“¿Qué nos inspira a los directivos, al equipo del Tecnológico de Antioquia?: nos inspira la educación superior, nos inspira formar y transformar vidas; eso es lo que vemos reflejado en este ejercicio”, manifestó el rector, Leonardo García Botero, durante la presentación de la Rendición de Cuentas TdeA, vigencia 2022.
“Cuando venía a la presentación, estaba pensando en lo frías que suelen ser las cifras de toda la gestión que se realizó para esta vigencia 2022 o venimos realizando. A veces no vemos reflejado el ejercicio de toda una comunidad académica. Los buenos resultados exponemos aquí son producto del esfuerzo de los colaboradores. Por ello, aprovecho para agradecer a todos por el empeño e interés en nuestro TdeA”, recalcó el rector, en desarrollo de dicho proceso de gestión pública, que se llevó a cabo el 29 de marzo, en el auditorio Gilberto Echeverri Mejía.
Positivos logros del Plan de Desarrollo
“40 años de vida académica, que está celebrando este 2023 la Institución Universitaria, son pocos para los resultados que ha tenido la organización, para todo lo que somos y hacemos”, agregó el rector, García Botero, como preámbulo a la explicación detallada de los avances y logros obtenidos en las cinco líneas estrategias del Plan de Desarrollo Institucional “Ser, Hacer, Trascender”: Redimensionando el desarrollo y futuro del TdeA y en acciones como calidad académica, gestión financiera, infraestructura física y tecnológica, procesos contractuales, bienestar y acciones de mejoramiento institucionales.
Dentro de su exposición habló de los proyectos estratégicos y ejecuciones en materia de infraestructura, que se vienen llevando a cabo en aras de la transformación física y tecnológica como el Campus TdeA Aburrá Sur en Itagüí, en donde la Institución viene operando hace 20 años a través de comodato con varios centros educativos, pero, con la moderna sede, que avanza en su construcción, podrán estudiar allí no solo los 1.046 estudiantes de estos establecimientos sino albergar a más de cinco mil estudiantes.
De igual forma, el Green Mall, es una obra que va muy adelante, enfocada en los estudiantes, en generar nuevos espacios académicos y servicios y destacó los avances de nuevos proyectos acordes con el crecimiento que ha tenido la Institución Universitaria.
Se trabaja, también, en el mejoramiento de espacios para hacer un campus accesible para todos. Otro de los temas expuestos fue el inicio de la construcción del Centro de Emprendimiento, Transferencia e Innovación (CETI) y el proyecto del bloque para los docentes.
Con relación a la situación financiera, el rector dejó claro que ha sido un manejo financiero muy positivo, se han cumplido todas las obligaciones financieras y hay una deuda cero, lo que se debe a la gestión de los recursos que se han conseguido, luchando por incrementar la base presupuestal ante el Departamento y la Asamblea de Antioquia.
Calidad académica
Destacó los avances en investigación, especialmente la clasificación de 12 grupos en Minciencias. Anunció, como muy buena noticia, la flexibilización de las políticas para llegar a las regiones, mediante el Registro Único, que da la posibilidad de tener una oferta diferenciada y potenciar el proceso de regionalización.
Se refirió a la acreditación de 13 programas y el reconocimiento del TdeA en el Ministerio de Educación Nacional. También mencionó el registro calificado del programa de Psicología y nuevos programas, encaminados en temas de postgrados a modalidades virtuales y duales. Igualmente, recalcó sobre el aumento de la planta docente.
La presentación incluyó la búsqueda de la Acreditación Internacional de la Facultad de Ciencias Administrativas y Económicas, redimensionando el desarrollo del futuro de la Institución, lo que puso como ejemplo a seguir por las otras tres facultades del Tecnológico. Para el efecto, se escogió la agencia ACBSP —Consejo de Acreditación de Programas y Escuelas de Negocios— con presencia en 61 países y más de mil instituciones de educación superior inscritas.
El rector, Leonardo García, mencionó, entre los grandes logros, la obtención de varias distinciones como: el Premio Nacional de Alta Gerencia, la Medalla a la Calidad Académica ACIET, el reconocimiento a la Facultad de Derecho y Ciencias Forenses como la más innovadora del país, el Sello Ecouniversidades de Corantioquia, por segundo año consecutivo, el Sello Naranja de Emvarias y el Premio León Zuleta por la política de diversidad, inclusión y género. Dijo que se tenía una deuda histórica con temas como la diversidad y la pluralidad, pero se han adelantado varias acciones como las campañas Sin etiquetas y Pisando fuerte para todas las comunidades, pues se viene trabajando en todas las líneas.
Beneficios para los estudiantes
Hizo énfasis en los beneficios como la gratuidad de las matrículas y, en general, de los descuentos que hacen parte de los alivios económicos que entrega el TdeA a su comunidad. También se refirió a los resultados en las pruebas Saber Pro y Saber Ty T, procesos que, según él, hay que trabajar y revisar, para mirar cómo se pueden fortalecer con los estudiantes y el acompañamiento de los docentes. Sobre el número de estudiantes con que cuenta el TdeA, hoy, por encima de los 13 mil (12.336 en el segundo semestre de 2022) dijo que: “nos hemos mantenido en el número de estudiantes, pues no podemos crecer sin poder cumplir con la oferta de servicios para bienestar de la comunidad; hay que ser responsables en el crecimiento de la Institución”.
Informó que hay 45.071 egresados, lo que habla del gran ejercicio que ha hecho el TdeA para transformar las vidas, las condiciones de crecimiento, desarrollo y las economías de las familias.
Se refirió a la entrega en 2022 de 750 canastas alimentarias, como un proyecto muy bonito, de mucho impacto y dijo que los jóvenes que están en el Fondo Alimentario, participan en varias actividades, hay reciprocidad con la Institución. Además, manifestó que se ha mejorado en el desarrollo de todas las actividades culturales y deportivas de la Institución. Tocó también temas como la ampliación de los servicios de la Biblioteca, los avances en la reestructuración de laboratorios para tener condiciones inmejorables y se refirió a la construcción del Centro de Emprendimiento, Transferencia e Innovación (CETI), que será un espacio para incentivar la creatividad y el espíritu empresarial.
Mencionó la internacionalización, como uno de los procesos que más ha crecido y ha generado más recursos. Asimismo, habló sobre el alto nivel de formación de los funcionarios, del alto número de doctores y magísteres como docentes. Además, valoró los positivos logros en las acciones de atención al ciudadano a través del Punto TdeA.
Al cierre de la presentación, expresó: “el TdeA tiene una cantidad de proyectos en cumplimiento del Plan de Desarrollo. Son procesos que no están acabados, están en construcción. Estamos todo el tiempo evaluando, cambiando. Les invito a que estemos motivados para sacar adelante al Tecnológico de Antioquia. Esta es una rectoría abierta al diálogo. Ustedes lo viven: acérquense, cuéntenos qué tenemos que hacer, en qué nos estamos equivocando, qué podemos hacer mejor para que esto redunde en el bienestar de toda la organización. Muchas gracias a todos por venir, a toda la comunidad académica que se suma a escuchar las buenas cosas que ha hecho este centro de estudios superiores, a dónde vamos, para dónde seguimos en esta ruta de TdeA más calidad”.

Excellent outcomes are the product of everyone's efforts.
"What inspires us, the directors and the team at Tecnológico de Antioquia: we are inspired by higher education, we are inspired by training and we are inspired by transforming lives; that is what we see reflected in this exercise," said the President, Leonardo García Botero, during the presentation of the TdeA Accountability Report, 2022.
"When I arrived to the presentation, I was thinking about how cold the statistics for all of the management that was done for this fiscal year 2022 or that we had been doing were. Sometimes we do not see the exercise of a complete academic community represented. The good outcomes we provide here are the consequence of the partners' efforts. As a result, I'd like to take this opportunity to thank everyone for their dedication and interest in our TdeA ", highlighted the President during the public management process on March 29 at the Gilberto Echeverri Meja auditorium.
Positive outcomes from the Development Plan
"For the results that the organization has had, for all that we are and do, 40 years of academic life, which the University Institution is celebrating this 2023, are few," added the President, García Botero, as a preamble to the detailed explanation of the progress and achievements obtained in the five strategic lines of the Institutional Development Plan "Being, Doing, Transcending": Redimensioning the development and future of TdeA and in actions such as academic quality, financial management, physical and technological infrastructure, contractual processes, welfare and institutional improvement actions.
During his presentation, he discussed the strategic projects and infrastructure executions that are being carried out for the sake of physical and technological transformation, such as the TdeA Aburrá Sur Campus in Itagüí, where the Institution has been operating for 20 years through a loan agreement with several educational centers, but with the modern headquarters, which is currently being built, not only the 1,046 students of these establishments will be able to study there, but also more than five thousand students will be able to study there.
Similarly, the Green Mall is a work in progress, focused on students, producing new academic spaces and services, and highlighting the progress of new projects in keeping with the University Institution's expansion.
Work is also being done to enhance campus spaces so that everyone may use them. Another item that was covered was the start of building on the Center for Entrepreneurship, Transfer, and Innovation (CETI) and the project of the teacher building.
Concerning the financial situation, the President stated unequivocally that financial management has been very positive, that all financial obligations have been met, and that there is no debt, which is due to the management of the resources obtained, as well as fighting to increase the budget base before the Department and the Assembly of Antioquia.
Academic Quality
He emphasized scientific advancements, including the categorization of 12 categories in the Ministry of Science. He declared, as very excellent news, the easing of rules to reach the regions via the Single Registration, which allows for a distinct offer and strengthens the regionalization process.
He referred to the accreditation of 13 programs and the recognition of the TdeA by the National Ministry of Education. He also mentioned the program's accredited registration and new programs aimed at postgraduate students in virtual and dual-mode settings. Likewise, he recalculated the growth of the teaching plant.
The presentation included the search for International Accreditation by the School Administrative and Economic Sciencies, reshaping the institution's future development and serving as a model for the other three technical schools. To that end, the ACBSP - Consejo de Acreditación de Programas y Escuelas de Negocios in Spanish— was chosen, with a presence in 61 countries and over 400 higher education institutions enrolled.
Among the great achievements, the President, Leonardo García, mentioned the National Senior Management Award, the ACIET Academic Quality Medal, the recognition of the School of Law and Forensic Sciences as the most innovative in the country, the Ecouniversidades Seal of Corantioquia for the second consecutive year, the Orange Seal of Emvarias, and the León Zuleta Award for the diversity, inclusion, and gender policy. He stated that there was a historical debt with issues such as diversity and plurality, but various initiatives, such as the campaigns “Sin etiquetas” and “Pisando fuerte” for all communities, had been carried out, as work is being done across all lines.
Benefit for Students
He stressed the benefits such as free tuition and, in general, the discounts that TdeA provides to its community as part of its economic aid. Also mentioned the Saber Pro and Saber T y T exam results, which he believes should be worked on and analyzed to see how they may be reinforced with the help of students and instructors. Concerning the TdeA's current student population of over 13 thousand (12,336 in the second semester of 2022), he stated that "we have maintained the number of students, because we cannot grow without being able to meet the services offered for the welfare of the community; we must be responsible in the Institution's growth."
It was announced that 45,071 people had graduated, demonstrating the TdeA's significant effort to alter people's lives, growth, development, and family economies.
He described the distribution of 750 food baskets in 2022 as a very nice, high-impact initiative, and stated that the young people in the Food Fund participate in many events, and there is reciprocity with the Institution. He also noted that the development of all of the Institution's cultural and sporting activities has improved. He also mentioned the extension of Library services, the progress in reorganizing laboratories to provide the best circumstances, and the creation of the Center for Entrepreneurship, Transfer, and Innovation (CETI), which would be a venue to stimulate creativity and entrepreneurship.
Internationalization was described as one of the processes that has expanded the greatest and created the most resources. He also mentioned the high quality of staff training and the large number of physicians and masters who serve as teachers. He also praised the “Punto TdeA’s” significant contributions to citizen service.
He concluded his presentation by saying, "TdeA has a lot of initiatives that are in accordance with the Development Plan." These are unfinished procedures that are still under construction. We are always assessing and adjusting. I want you to be inspired to advance the Tecnológico de Antioquia. This is a conversational presidency. You live it: come closer, tell us what we need to do, where we're doing wrong, and what we can do better so that the entire corporate benefits.
