La estudiante del Tecnológico de Antioquia, Karen Durango Restrepo, obtuvo seis medallas de oro en los Juegos Deportivos Universitarios Regionales de la Asociación Colombiana de Universidades -ASCUN Nodo Antioquia, que se llevan a cabo del 19 de marzo al 30 de mayo, en los que participan 112 deportistas de 15 universidades.
Se trata, de una deportista de primer nivel con que cuenta la Institución Universitaria, quien ha obtenido grandes logros en torneos nacionales, panamericanos y se espera que próximamente se destaque también en los Juegos Olímpicos en París 2024. Con miras a dicho evento mundial, la joven nadadora fue becada por la Federación Internacional de Natación -FINA- para viajar a Rusia para un proceso de preparación específica con el propósito de seguir mejorando sus tiempos, pues la antioqueña es una de las promesas deportivas del país con miras no solo a los Juegos Olímpicos de París sino de Los Ángeles 2028. En los pasados Juegos Metropolitanos Inder-Ascun 2021, que se llevaron a cabo en Medellín, obtuvo igualmente seis medallas de oro, que la ratifican como una de las nadadoras más importantes de la natación en Colombia.
Karen Durango Restrepo, está adscrita al programa de Profesional en Criminalística del TdeA. Nació en Medellín el 4 de octubre de 2001. Es la hija única del matrimonio conformado por Paola Andrea Restrepo Hoyos y Bayro León Durango. Para ella, la natación ha sido su pasión, su vida. Su fuerte son los 200 metros mariposa, por lo que metafóricamente se ha dicho de ella que es como “una mariposa que vuela en el agua”.
El rector del Tecnológico de Antioquia, Leonardo García Botero, felicitó a la destacada deportista en nombre de toda la comunidad educativa. “Felicitamos a Karen por su disciplina, compromiso y tenacidad, tres pilares que le vienen reportando grandes frutos en la natación, en sus estudios y en su vida privada, de lo cual estamos enteramente orgullosos. Para el Tecnológico de Antioquia, el deporte significa la construcción del buen ser humano, representa la herramienta que ayuda al desarrollo integral de nuestros jóvenes”.
Jair Stevenson Salas, quien acompaña los procesos de la Dirección de Bienestar, como líder del Área de Deportes, se refirió a Karen Durango, como una “figura icónica” del TdeA, una excelente deportista y una gran persona. Explicó, además, que este Regional versión 2022-1, genera clasificación y cupos directos para los Juegos Nacionales Universitarios, que tendrán lugar en Cali en septiembre y octubre, para los cuales la Institución Universitaria tiene una proyección de clasificación entre 50 y 60 deportistas.
TdeA student won 6 gold medals at ASCUN Games
The student of the Tecnológico de Antioquia, Karen Durango Restrepo, won six gold medals in the Regional University Sports Games of the Colombian Association of Universities -ASCUN Nodo Antioquia, which took place from March 19 to May 30, in which 112 athletes from 15 universities participate.
She is a top-level athlete that the University Institution has, who has obtained great achievements in national and Pan American tournaments and is expected to soon also stand out in the Olympic Games in Paris 2024. With a view to this world event, the young swimmer was awarded a scholarship by the International Swimming Federation -FINA- to travel to Russia for a specific preparation process with the purpose of continuing to improve her times, since the Antioquian is one of the sporting promises of the country with a view not only to the Olympic Games in Paris but also to Los Angeles 2028. In the last Metropolitan Games Inder-Ascun 2021, which were held in Medellín, she also won six gold medals, which ratify her as one of the most important swimmers in swimming in Colombia.
Karen Durango Restrepo, is attached to the Professional in Criminalistics program of the TdeA. He was born in Medellín on October 4, 2001. She is the only child of Paola Andrea Restrepo Hoyos and Bayro León Durango. For her, swimming has been her passion, her life. Her forte is the 200-meter butterfly, so metaphorically it has been said of her that she is like "a butterfly that flies in the water".
The President of the Tecnológico de Antioquia, Leonardo García Botero, congratulated the outstanding athlete on behalf of the entire educational community. "We congratulate Karen for her discipline, commitment and tenacity, three pillars that have been bringing her great fruits in swimming, in her studies and in her private life, of which we are entirely proud. For the Tecnológico de Antioquia, sport means the construction of the good human being, it represents the tool that helps the integral development of our young people".
Jair Stevenson Salas, who accompanies the processes of the Welfare Directorate, as leader of the Sports Area, referred to Karen Durango, as an "iconic figure" of the TdeA, an excellent athlete and a great person. He also explained that this Regional version 2022-1, generates classification and direct quotas for the National University Games, which will take place in Cali in September and October, for which the University Institution has a classification projection between 50 and 60 athletes.
