Tras una década de trabajo continúo con diferentes representaciones y puestas en escena, el grupo de teatro “Premier” del Tecnológico de Antioquia obtuvo el primer lugar en el Festival Regional Universitario de Teatro "Vive la Escena", ASCUN 2024, que se efectuó entre el 10 y 13 de abril de este año en las instalaciones de Uniminuto, en el municipio de Bello.

En su segunda participación en este certamen cultural, “Premier” presentó la obra “El irresistible”, escrita y dirigida por María Camila Velásquez Uribe, licenciada en Artes Escénicas de la Universidad de Antioquia y directora, desde hace nueve años, del grupo teatral del TdeA.
La obra, que está lista desde 2023, recibió la máxima calificación por parte del jurado y como su nombre, también resultó irresistible, para los asistentes al encuentro teatral. Así, el TdeA ganó el derecho de representar a Antioquia en el Festival Nacional de Teatro de la Asociación Colombiana de Universidades -ASCUN- que se realizará en Medellín en octubre próximo.
“Esta es una obra estilo comedia. Es un melodrama en el que el personaje principal se enfrenta a diferentes problemas y dificultades. Es una obra muy graciosa ambientada estilo siglo XVIII, por lo que conseguir la escenografía fue un poco complicado”, explicó Velásquez Uribe.
En el festival participaron otras seis instituciones de educación superior del departamento: U. de A., UPB, Politécnico Colombiano Jaime Isaza Cadavid, Institución Universitaria Colegio Mayor de Antioquia y las universidades de Medellín y Católica de Oriente.
Actualmente, el grupo teatral del TdeA está integrado por seis estudiantes de Derecho, Ingeniería, Trabajo Social y Psicología, además de una egresada de Comercio Exterior. Este colectivo escénico se fundó en 2014 y desde entonces ha mostrado su talento en diferentes auditorios de la capital antioqueña y de otros municipios del departamento.
“Aunque estábamos trabajando en otros proyectos nos vamos a concentrar solo en ‘El irresistible’. El 24 de mayo llevaremos nuestra obra al ITM a la ‘Primavera Cultural’ y esperamos participar también el Festival de Teatro de Sonsón. No nos queremos saturar con muchas funciones para llegar sin presión a la final de ASCUN”, enfatizó María Camila Velásquez Uribe, directora del grupo de teatro “Premier” del TdeA.
Las directivas de la institución, en cabeza del rector Leonardo García Botero; la directora de Bienestar Universitario, Eliana Vanegas Zapata, y el profesional del área de Cultura, Carlos Mario Osorio Vanegas, resaltaron la importancia de este logro artístico, a la vez que felicitaron y reconocieron la participación de los integrantes.
"Este gran mérito obtenido por el grupo de teatro ‘Premier’ ratifica nuestro eslogan: ‘En el TdeA la cultura es arte. Hacemos parte de esta historia", recordó emocionado Osorio Vanegas.
TdeA's "Premier" Theatre Group, "Irresistible" at ASCUN Regional Festival
After a decade of continuous work with different performances and stagings, the Theater group "Premier" of the Tecnológico de Antioquia won first place in the Regional University Theater Festival "Vive la Escena," ASCUN 2024, which took place between April 10 and 13 of this year at the Uniminuto facilities, in the municipality of Bello.
In its second participation in this cultural contest, "Premier" presented the play "El irresistible," written and directed by María Camila Velásquez Uribe, a graduate in Performing Arts from the University of Antioquia and director, for nine years, of the theater group of the TdeA.
The play, which has been ready since 2023, received the highest rating from the jury and, like its name, was also irresistible to those attending the theatrical meeting. Thus, the TdeA won the right to represent Antioquia at the National Theater Festival of the Colombian Association of Universities -ASCUN- to be held in Medellín next October.
"This is a comedy-style play. It is a melodrama in which the main character faces different problems and difficulties. It's a very funny play set in the 18th century, so getting the scenery was a bit complicated," Velásquez Uribe explained.
Six other higher education institutions in the department participated in the festival: U. de A., UPB, Politécnico Colombiano Jaime Isaza Cadavid, Institución Universitaria Colegio Mayor de Antioquia and the universities of Medellín and Católica de Oriente.
Currently, the TdeA's theater group is made up of six students of Law, Engineering, Social Work and Psychology, as well as a graduate of Foreign Trade. This performing arts collective was founded in 2014 and since then it has shown its talent in different auditoriums in the capital of Antioquia and other municipalities in the department.
"Although we were working on other projects, we're going to concentrate only on El Irresistible - The Irresistible. On May 24 we will take our work to the ITM to the 'Cultural Spring' and we hope to also participate in the Sonsón Theater Festival. We don't want to saturate ourselves with many performances to reach the ASCUN final without pressure," emphasized María Camila Velásquez Uribe, director of the "Premier" theater group of the TdeA.
The directors of the institution, headed by the president Leonardo García Botero; the director of University Welfare, Eliana Vanegas Zapata, and the professional of the area of Culture, Carlos Mario Osorio Vanegas, highlighted the importance of this artistic achievement, while congratulating and recognizing the participation of the members.
"This great merit obtained by the theatre group 'Premier' ratifies our slogan: 'In the TdeA, culture is art. We are part of this history," Osorio Vanegas recalled emotionally.
