Nuestra institución universitaria ha logrado un importante avance en el ranking de investigación ART-Sapiens Research, alcanzando el puesto 32 a nivel país. Este reconocimiento se debe al crecimiento significativo en la producción de artículos científicos publicados en revistas de alto impacto, tanto en el ámbito nacional como internacional.
Sapiens Research es un indicador que mide el desempeño de las instituciones de educación superior en materia de investigación. En su última edición, evaluó a 367 universidades y sus seccionales, instituciones universitarias, tecnológicas y técnicas del país, de las cuales 251 lograron clasificar.
En Antioquia, el TdeA se posiciona como la segunda institución universitaria con mayor producción divulgativa en investigación, manteniendo la misma posición en el ranking nacional de su categoría. En la clasificación general del departamento, ocupa el sexto lugar.
El ranking mide el total de artículos publicados en revistas colombianas e internacionales de alto impacto, el número total de artículos en idioma español, artículos en idioma inglés y el número total de países con los cuales se interactúa.
Crecimiento y producción científica
El avance del TdeA en este ranking está respaldado por una tasa de crecimiento del 75 % en su producción científica, pasando de 30 a 67 puntos ponderados. En 2014, la institución publicaba solo tres artículos científicos, mientras que en 2023 la cifra ascendió a 74. En 2024, la producción continúa en ascenso con 78 artículos publicados, y en lo que va de 2025, ya se han registrado 14 publicaciones.
Según Fabio Vargas, director de Investigación del TdeA, el objetivo es mantener este crecimiento y fomentar la citación de los artículos publicados. "La idea es que sigamos generando productos, pero queremos que esos productos también tengan un nivel de citación alto. Porque un artículo también se mide por este aspecto, es decir, que sirva a otros investigadores, otras universidades o empresas inclusive", señaló.
Factores clave en el crecimiento
El TdeA ha enfocado su estrategia de investigación en cuatro pilares fundamentales:
- Generación de nuevos conocimientos en revistas de alto impacto y a través del Sello Editorial.
- Desarrollo tecnológico e innovación mediante registros, patentes y software.
- Formación y capacitación del talento humano.
- Apropiación social del conocimiento.
Estos factores, junto con la actualización de sus políticas de investigación que incluye incentivos a la publicación, gran cantidad de artículos en inglés, publicación en revistas indexadas y la colaboración con 23 países, han contribuido a los resultados obtenidos. Además, desde 2023, la institución ha impulsado convocatorias de investigación aplicada con un enfoque en desarrollo tecnológico e innovación, con el objetivo de generar patentes y fomentar la citación de su producción académica.
Otros logros en investigación
El crecimiento del TdeA también se refleja en el desempeño de sus grupos de investigación. En otras mediciones de Sapiens Research, el grupo Observatorio Público se ubica en el puesto 15 entre más de 5.300 grupos evaluados, mientras que el grupo Observatos está en la posición 26.
En otro ranking de universidades Ranking U-Sapiens, el TdeA ha demostrado una evolución significativa. En la última evaluación de 2024, se posicionó en el puesto 54 entre las 71 instituciones clasificadas, de un total de más de 300 en el país. Se espera que, en el próximo informe del primer semestre de 2025, la institución continúe su ascenso en los rankings nacionales internacionales.
Estos resultados reflejan el compromiso del TdeA con la investigación y la innovación, consolidándose como una institución de referencia en el panorama académico y científico colombiano.
TdeA Escalates in the ART-Sapiens Research Ranking
Our university institution has made significant progress in the ART-Sapiens Research ranking, reaching the 32nd position at the national level. This recognition is the result of the significant growth in the production of scientific articles published in high-impact journals, both nationally and internationally.
Sapiens Research is an indicator that measures the performance of higher education institutions in terms of research. In its latest edition, it evaluated 367 universities and their branches, university, technological, and technical institutions in the country, of which 251 managed to qualify.
In Antioquia, TdeA ranks as the second university institution with the highest research dissemination production, maintaining the same position in the national ranking of its category. In the general classification of the department, it occupies the sixth place.
The ranking measures the total number of articles published in high-impact Colombian and international journals, the total number of articles in Spanish, articles in English, and the total number of countries with which there is interaction.
Growth and scientific production
The advancement of TdeA in this ranking is supported by a 75% growth rate in its scientific production, increasing from 30 to 67 weighted points. In 2014, the institution published only three scientific articles, while in 2023 the figure rose to 74. In 2024, production continues to rise with 78 articles published, and so far in 2025, 14 publications have already been recorded.
According to Fabio Vargas, director of Research at TdeA, the goal is to maintain this growth and encourage the citation of published articles. "The idea is that we continue generating products, but we also want those products to have a high citation level. "Because an article is also measured by this aspect, that is, that it serves other researchers, other universities, or even companies," he pointed out.
Key factors in growth
The TdeA has focused its research strategy on four fundamental pillars:
- Generation of new knowledge in high-impact journals and through the Editorial Seal.
- Technological development and innovation through registrations, patents, and software.
- Training and development of human talent.
- Social appropriation of knowledge.
These factors, along with the update of their research policies which include incentives for publication, a large number of articles in English, publication in indexed journals, and collaboration with 23 countries, have contributed to the results obtained. Additionally, since 2023, the institution has promoted calls for applied research with a focus on technological development and innovation, with the aim of generating patents and encouraging the citation of its academic production.
Other research achievements
The growth of TdeA is also reflected in the performance of its research groups. In other measurements by Sapiens Research, the Public Observatory group ranks 15th among more than 5,300 evaluated groups, while the Observatos group is in 26th place.
In another university ranking, Ranking U-Sapiens, TdeA has shown significant progress. In the latest 2024 evaluation, it ranked 54th among the 71 institutions classified, out of a total of more than 300 in the country. It is expected that, in the next report for the first half of 2025, the institution will continue its rise in the national and international rankings.
These results reflect TdeA's commitment to research and innovation, establishing it as a reference institution in the Colombian academic and scientific landscape.
