Las bibliotecas son santuarios donde la mente puede encontrar refugio y la compañía de escritores de todos los tiempos. A pesar del auge de la tecnología, los juegos electrónicos y las redes sociales, la Biblioteca Humberto Saldarriaga Carmona del TdeA Institución Universitaria, no pierde lectores.
La bibliotecóloga Liliana Agudelo Vega destaca que los profesores siguen promoviendo una lectura variada, dado que tanto el libro impreso como las bases de datos mantienen una alta demanda. Un ejemplo claro es el profesor Víctor Santiago Largo, con formación en filología, quien regularmente estimula la lectura en sus cursos para que el estudiante vaya adquiriendo un gusto por el conocimiento a través de los libros, sean físicos o digitales.
Por supuesto los más asiduos a la biblioteca son los estudiantes de la Licenciatura en Literatura y Lengua Castellana y de la Licenciatura en Educación Infantil, debido al énfasis de sus responsabilidades académicas; además de aquellos que se reúnen en comunidades de estudio, pero no faltan los que son grandes aficionados a la literatura por el simple placer de sumergirse en una buena lectura.
“Sabemos que el amor por la lectura nace en los hogares y que se puede promueve cuando los niños ingresan al colegio. En esta etapa de la universidad nos encontramos con jóvenes excelentes lectores que sacan su tiempo para leer lo que más les gusta”, dice la bibliotecóloga Liliana Agudelo.
Liliana recuerda que en su tiempo de estudiante de colegio lo que más se promovía era la literatura clásica pero que ahora los jóvenes buscan los autores contemporáneos, cuya obra se promociona en el cine o la televisión. “Yo creo que la literatura moderna está influenciada por los clásicos, a nosotros en el colegio nos pusieron a hacer análisis literario teniendo en cuenta el contexto histórico y el argumento para que el lector se ubique, disfrute y entienda lo que lee”, dice la bibliotecóloga.
En la Biblioteca del TdeA hay 30.399 volúmenes, 26.305 títulos y 73 bases de datos, que incluyen multidisciplinarias, especializadas y libros electrónicos.
Actividades especiales: 23 de abril
Cada 23 de abril se celebra el Día del Idioma, del Libro y los Derechos de Autor porque en esta fecha fallecieron Miguel de Cervantes, William Shakespeare e Inca Garcilaso de la Vega. En el caso local, esa fecha corresponde al nacimiento del escritor antioqueño Manuel Mejía Vallejo. Estas son las actividades del TdeA para celebrar esta fecha, en la biblioteca:
8:00 a. m. Conversatorio con el escritor William Rouge, autor de “Nacer en Rojo”.
10:00 a. m. Concurso de ortografía.
Toda la semana: Exposición “Dimensiones y Letras”, en la sede de la Biblioteca Humberto Saldarriaga.
Además, la Dirección de Bienestar, área Cultural, realizará el 23 de abril, a las 5:00 p. m., en el auditorio Gilberto Echeverri, la final del XXI Concurso de cuento Tomás Carrasquilla.
The TdeA Celebrates Language, Books and Copyright Day

Librarian Liliana Agudelo Vega points out that teachers continue to promote a variety of reading, given that both printed books and databases are in high demand. A clear example is Professor Víctor Santiago Largo, with a background in philology, who regularly stimulates reading in his courses so that students acquire a taste for knowledge through books, whether physical or digital.
Of course, the most assiduous to the library are the students of the Bachelor's Degree in Literature and Spanish Language and the Bachelor's Degree in Early Childhood Education, due to the emphasis of their academic responsibilities. In addition to those who meet in study communities, there is no shortage of those who are great fans of literature for the simple pleasure of immersing themselves in a good read.
"We know that the love of reading is born in homes and that it can be promoted when children enter school. At this stage of the university, we meet excellent young readers who take the time to read what they like the most," says librarian Liliana Agudelo.
Liliana remembers that in her time as a high school student, what was promoted the most was classic literature, but now young people are looking for contemporary authors, whose work is promoted in cinema or television. "I believe that modern literature is influenced by the classics, we at school were made to do literary analysis taking into account the historical context and the argument so that the reader can situate, enjoy and understand what he reads," says the librarian.
In the TdeA Library there are 30,399 books, 26,305 titles and 73 databases, including multidisciplinary, specialized and e-books.

Every April 23rd, the Day of Language, Books and Copyright is celebrated because on this date Miguel de Cervantes, William Shakespeare and Inca Garcilaso de la Vega died.
