“Un hecho histórico para la educación superior, con el primer doctorado en Colombia de una Institución Universitaria del orden departamental”: Lorenzo Portocarrero Sierra, rector del TdeA.
El viceministro de Educación Superior, Luis Fernando Pérez Pérez, hizo entrega del registro calificado del Doctorado en Educación y Estudios Sociales al rector del Tecnológico de Antioquia, Lorenzo Portocarrero Sierra, en acto virtual que se llevó a cabo este 23 de julio, con la participación del gobernador encargado de Antioquia, Luis Fernando Suárez Vélez.
Se trata del primer doctorado que ofrecerá el TdeA, en sus 37 años de vida académica y el primero en su género en ofertarse en las instituciones universitarias del orden departamental en Colombia. El Ministerio de Educación Nacional hizo pública la Resolución 012259 del 8 de julio de 2020, que le da vía libre al ofrecimiento de este programa, adscrito a la Facultad de Educación y Ciencias Sociales, con el cual se amplía la oferta de posgrados y se apoya la producción académica de los grupos de investigación.
Con relación al doctorado, el viceministro Pérez Pérez destacó: “Es una responsabilidad y una oportunidad muy grande para la generación del conocimiento y la formación de doctores en Educación y Ciencias Sociales; una muestra más del desarrollo académico de las instituciones antioqueñas y del empuje que ha tenido el departamento en su propósito de acompañar al Gobierno Nacional para cerrar las brechas de la desigualdad que existe en materia educativa”. Así mismo, resaltó la gestión del rector del TdeA, destacando su liderazgo no solo en la Institución sino, también, en el Consejo Nacional de Educación Superior —CESU— y ante la junta del ICETEX, en donde ha sobresalido por el compromiso en la transformación de la educación superior.
Por su parte, para el gobernador encargado, Luis Fernando Suárez Vélez, el hecho de ser la primera institución universitaria del orden departamental en haber recibido la Acreditación Institucional de Alta calidad en Colombia, demuestra el liderazgo y el compromiso de todo el equipo de trabajo del Tecnológico de Antioquia. “Además, este doctorado va a generar conocimiento y, sin duda, va a seguir poniendo a la vanguardia la educación superior de Antioquia y al TdeA, que tiene cerca de 13 mil estudiantes. Estamos seguros, Señor rector, que la educación con calidad que usted lidera genera desarrollo social y económico. Por eso, estamos muy satisfechos por este logro, que lo acogemos como de todo el departamento, por lo que le extiendo un abrazo de felicitación a su equipo trabajo y hago un llamado para que sigamos avanzando unidos por el desarrollo de la educación”, expresó el mandatario departamental.
De igual forma, el rector, Lorenzo Portocarrero Sierra, se mostró orgulloso por este hecho histórico que presentó ante la comunidad educativa, que contribuye a mejorar el sistema de educación superior colombiano. Subrayó el esfuerzo de la Facultad de Educación y Ciencias Sociales, la Vicerrectoría Académica, los equipos de investigadores y docentes para la obtención de este doctorado que aporta a la misión de llevar educación de calidad y se suma a otras gratas noticias que ha entregado la Institución Universitaria en el presente año.
“El Tecnológico de Antioquia, agradece el acompañamiento del viceministro de Educación Superior, del gobernador encargado, de la secretaria de Educación, de todo el equipo académico, estudiantes y empleados. Hoy, hicimos el lanzamiento del doctorado, que tiene un componente educativo social muy fuerte, básicamente para investigadores”, puntualizó el directivo.
“Nos sentimos de plácemes que una entidad del Departamento de Antioquia, como lo es el TdeA, esté en las grandes ligas de la educación superior de calidad de este país, en el tema calidad y de posgrados. Agradezco a los 65 doctores del TdeA, de tiempo completo, que acompañarán este proceso que será muy positivo para el desarrollo investigativo de Antioquia, Colombia y, por qué no, del mundo”, agregó Portocarrero Sierra.
El Doctorado en Educación y Estudios Sociales, tiene cinco énfasis académicos en: Paz, justicia e instituciones sólidas; Construcción de conocimiento para el desarrollo, Contextos y comunidades educativas; Epistemología, pedagogía y didáctica y Medio ambiente y desarrollo sostenible. El registro calificado se otorgó por siete años y se pretende ofertar para el segundo semestre de 2020, de acuerdo con los requisitos que serán publicados en la página Web del TdeA.

Tecnológico de Antioquia received PhD approval in Education and Social Studies
"A historical fact, a milestone for higher education, with the first doctorate in Colombia of a University Institution of the regional order”, expressed Lorenzo Portocarrero Sierra, president of the TdeA.
The Deputy Minister of Higher Education, Luis Fernando Pérez Pérez, gave the record accreditation for the Doctorate in Education and Social Studies to the president of the Tecnológico de Antioquia, Lorenzo Portocarrero Sierra, in a virtual event that took place this past July 23, with the participation of the governor in charge of Antioquia, Luis Fernando Suárez Vélez.
It is the first doctorate that the TdeA will offer, in its 37 years of academic life and the first of its kind to be offered in the university institutions of the regional order in Colombia. The Ministry of National Education issued Resolution 012259 of July 8, 2020, which gives approves offering this program, attached to the School of Education and Social Sciences, which expands the offer of postgraduates and supports the academic production of research groups.
Regarding the doctorate, Deputy Minister Pérez Pérez stressed: "It is a very great responsibility and opportunity for the generation of knowledge and the training of doctors in Education and Social Sciences; one more example of the academic development of Antioquian institutions and the support that the region has had in its purpose to accompany the National Government to close the gaps in inequality in education.” He also highlighted the management of TdeA’s President highlighting his leadership, not only in the Institution, but also in the National Council of Higher Education (CESU) and at the board of ICETEX, where he has excelled at the commitment in the transformation of higher education.
For its part, for the governor in charge, Luis Fernando Suárez Vélez, the fact that it is the first university institution of the regional order to have received the High Quality Institutional Accreditation in Colombia, demonstrates the leadership and commitment of the entire team of the Tecnológico de Antioquia. "In addition, this doctorate will generate knowledge and, without a doubt, will continue to put at the forefront the higher education of Antioquia and the TdeA, which has about 13 thousand students. We are sure, President Lorenzo, that the quality education you lead generates social and economic development. That is why we are very pleased with this achievement, which we welcome you as from the whole region, so I extend a congratulatory hug to your team and call for us to continue to move forward together for the development of education,” said the governor
Likewise, president, Lorenzo Portocarrero Sierra, was proud of this historical fact he presented to the educational community, which contributes to improving Colombia's higher education system. He underlined the efforts of the School of Education and Social Sciences, the Academic Vice-Chancellor, the teams of researchers and teachers to obtain this doctorate that contributes to the mission of bringing quality education and adds to other pleasant news delivered by the University Institution this year.
"The Tecnológico de Antioquia, appreciates the accompaniment of the Deputy Minister of Higher Education, the governor in charge, the Secretary of Education, the entire academic team, students and employees. Today, we launched the PhD, which has a very strong social educational component, basically for researchers," the manager said.
"We are very glad that an entity of the Department of Antioquia, such as the TdeA, is in the major leagues of quality higher education in this country, on the subject of quality and postgraduate studies. I thank the 65 full-time TdeA doctors who will accompany this process that will be very positive for the research development of Antioquia, Colombia and, why not, the world," Portocarrero Sierra added.
The PhD in Education and Social Studies has five academic emphasis on: Peace, justice and strong institutions; Building knowledge for development, contexts and educational communities; Epistemology, pedagogy and didactics and environment and sustainable development. The qualified registration was granted for seven years and is intended to be offered for the second half of 2020, in accordance with the requirements that will be published on the TdeA website.
