DISCURSO DE POSESIÓN DE ANÍBAL GAVIRIA CORREA A LA GOBERNACIÓN DE ANTIOQUIA.
Horizontes es tal vez la obra del arte antioqueño que recoge con mayor fidelidad los rasgos característicos de nuestras gentes, historia y cultura. La esperanza de que podemos construirnos un futuro común; la familia como compromiso y encuentro de amor, y la pujanza como rasgo que construye y transforma.
Ayer, los horizontes de nuestra tierra fueron la conquista de nuevas regiones y la construcción de una economía que sustentó el desarrollo de Colombia por décadas, la agrícola fundamentada en el café, gesta común de los paisas. Hoy, el horizonte que nos devolverá la esperanza es la unidad que nos hace fuertes para ofrecer a nuestras gentes, a nuestros hijos, nuevos caminos de esperanza.
Hace dos décadas inició el primer gobierno del proyecto Antioquia Nueva, emprendido por Guillermo Gaviria Correa como el camino que nos conducía a que en el tercer milenio nos comprometiéramos y actuáramos para forjar una región más feliz, más justa, más humana y más libre, integrada a Colombia y al mundo defendiendo estos principios.

OPENNING SPEECH OF ANTIOQUIA GOVERNOR ANÍBAL GAVIRIA CORREA.
“Horizontes” is perhaps Antioquia’s work of art that more faithfully captures the characteristic features of our people, history and culture. The hope that we can build a common future; family as a commitment and encounter of love, and strength as a trait that builds and transforms.
Yesterday, the horizons of our land were the conquest of new regions and the construction of an economy that supported the development of Colombia for decades, the agriculture based on coffee, a common endeavour of the country. Today, the horizon that will restore hope to us is the unity that makes us strong to offer our people, our children, new paths of hope.
Two decades ago began the first term in office of the “Antioquia Nueva” project, undertaken by Guillermo Gaviria Correa as the path that led us to commit and act in the third millennium to forge a happier, fairer, more humane and freer region, integrated into Colombia and the world defending these principles.
